Mission Control Learning Methodology

Mission Control programs and products are designed to provide a practical, effective approach to creating breakthroughs in productivity - specifically for the needs of adult learners.

Mission Control is committed to designing and delivering high quality, effective learning experiences for adults. Because they bring varying experiences and learning styles to each learning experience, adult learners have a unique set of needs.

Two elements are consistent with all adult learners: the training must be practical, and it must include active participation which engages the learner.

Education professor Malcolm Knowles, a recognized leader in adult learning, says it is essential to recognize that adult learners are different from younger students. Adults are more self-directed and expect to take responsibility for decisions. According to Knowles, effective training for adult learners must take into account these characteristics:

• Adults approach learning as problem solving.
  
  
• Adults learn best when the topic is of immediate value.

Beginning with our Introduction and Foundation programs, Mission Control programs emphasize direct experience and problem-solving in addition to disciplinary knowledge. Each program is designed to build upon the adult learner's experience, provide opportunities for individualized learning and ensuring that the learning is related to "real-life" problem-based scenarios that the learner can relate to directly.
